It will be a stormy day in Lower Austria and Vienna. Around noon, gales of up to 100 kilometers per hour are expected. There is a storm warning for eastern Austria.
In Austria, generally varied and just partly very windy weather is expected this week. According to the ZAMG (Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics) forecast on Sunday, daily maximum temperatures of ten degrees Celsius are expected before a powerful low over northeastern Europe will have Austria in its grip again on Friday.
The week starts today south of the main ridge of the Alps and in the southeast largely dry and often also cloudy. North of the main ridge of the Alps and in the north and east, however, the sky is mostly cloudy. While frequent rain or sleet showers will already pass through in the morning between Vorarlberg and western Lower Austria, further east the first showers will not set in until the afternoon. The snow line will initially be between 500 and 800 meters above sea level. By the evening, however, the snow line will partly drop to low elevations. The wind will come from west to northwest and blow briskly, in the east also strongly. In the mountains, gale-force winds are to be expected. Early temperatures will be between minus seven and plus four degrees Celsius, daily highs between three and ten degrees Celsius. It will be warmest in the southeast with a northerly foehn.
